November project

With the return to teaching in September, two devastating back-to-back floods, and major illness for both myself and my wife, I have found little time or energy to be very productive with this blog or with art making in general.  But, November brings renewed hope and energy. My good friend Derik Badman put out an open call to artists interested in joining him to make a comic a day during the month of November.  While I know I am far from being able to call myself a comic artist, I have always had a sustained interest in the interplay of text and image in my work, and have had a few ventures into narrative work. Needless to say, this is the perfect opportunity for me to get myself back into a regular habit of posting.  I have no idea what the quality of the work will be, I am not even sure of  direction at this point (I tried a couple of experiments this weekend with little success), but I am excited to have an excuse to knock down some of the cobwebs collecting on this blog.

Some significant changes are afoot in my life that will keep me from posting for a little while.  In a week I will be teaching a new subject (ceramics and 3d instead of our foundations classes) and moving into a new room.  Since I make all of the work on this blog while I am at school, moving into a new room is tantamount to changing studios for me.  I am not sure how long it will take for me to settle into this new situation, or how it might affect the work, but I will be back to posting as soon as possible.
